About Murriwarri Artworks

Johanna Parker is a direct descendant of the Murriwarri Tribe. Her art work reflects Murriwarri living, past and present.  Johanna works with oils, acrylics, gouache, inks, water color and pastels. Furthermore her skills extend to carving ceramics, wood, and glass.

Johanna is currently the Director of The Biamie Dreaming In-Cooperatives Artists Committee. Johanna is also a photographer who has worked with Mervyn Bishop, Australia's first professional aboriginal photographer. Recently they were the official photographers to Yabun Concert on the Gadigal land at Redfern Park, Sydney Jan, 2005.

She has completed a 3 year Visual Communication Degree in 2005 at Deakin University, Victoria, Australia. The units studied were computer graphics, visual theory, drawing and painting. Achieving high academic marks Johanna received the Golden Key Honour, the highest 15% of chosen students in all Universities.

Johanna lives in Lighting Ridge where she teaches art and dance. She also creates murals at pre-schools, day care centres, schools, and also does sign writing. Johanna has workshops and offers her services to other local Business.
